Step 6 – Uptime

An uptime check is when a service reaches out and downloads a specific page to ensure that it is loading for users. Any URL that has been defined as a ‘homepage’ can have an uptime monitor assigned to it. The uptime monitor will check the page every 5 minutes, and can alert specific users if the page isn’t meeting the criteria set in the monitor.

When you add a website, if you have uptime monitors available, the homepage will automatically be added, and it will begin uptime monitoring on that page. This information will be displayed inside your report. If you want alerts for downtime, you will need to change the settings of the uptime monitor.

We have more information available on how to configure your uptime monitors in our uptime guides.

Let’s go back to Adding a website overview or move on to Step 7 – Policies.
